The questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, just reach out.

Getting Started

What are your hours?

We're open 24/7, every day of the year. No holidays, no closures. Download our app and you can walk into either gym whenever you want. 3am on a Tuesday, Christmas morning, it makes no difference.

Staffed Weekdays9am to 7pm
Staffed Weekends9am to 5pm

Where are you located?

4630 Broadway, Allentown, PA 18104. Plenty of parking out front. F13 is right out back behind Resistance Strength, under the same roof, so once you're here you've got everything.

How do I sign up?

Fill out the contact form and we'll reach out to get you set up. It's quick, there are no paperwork headaches, and we'll make sure you end up in the membership you actually want.

Can I try a class before joining?

The best first step is to come see the gym. Walk through it, watch a class run, look at the equipment, and compare the membership options while you are standing in the room. Fill out the contact form or text 484-891-0840 and we will set a time that works.

Do I need experience to join?

No. We get people walking in for the first time every week and they fit right in. The community is the thing members bring up most. Our coaches know your name, people look out for each other, and nobody here has room for ego. You'll feel it the first time you walk through the door.

Is Resistance Strength a good gym for beginners?

Yes. Some new members arrive with experience and some have none, and both do well here. Nothing about the gym is designed to intimidate you. The coaching team is on it every day, and if you want more structure, F13 and 1-on-1 sessions with our coach both start you from wherever you are. People look out for each other here. Nobody is judged for what they lift.

Memberships

How much does a membership cost?

Open Gym Membership starts at $85/month. We also have F13 Unlimited, F13 Classes, Sport Performance programs, and 1-on-1 Personal Training. See all membership options. Not sure which is right for you? Fill out the contact form and we'll figure it out together. No pressure.

Do you actually cap memberships?

Yes, on purpose. When a gym gets too crowded the training suffers, and keeping the gym usable matters more to us than filling every spot on the membership list. We are not dropping the price either. If we're full when you reach out, you can sign up for our waitlist and we'll contact you as soon as a spot opens up.

How does the waitlist work if you're at capacity?

When the member cap is hit we open a waitlist. Spots open in the order requests came in. When one opens up, we call or text the next person on the list with a short window to confirm before moving to the next name. Join by filling out the contact form, or by calling or texting 484-891-0840. We keep the waitlist active and honest. We won't quietly expand the cap to get you in faster.

The Gym

What kind of equipment do you have?

We run custom Watson Strength machines throughout the gym, which you will not find at most gyms. Alongside them: metallic dumbbells up to 150 lbs, a dedicated deadlift platform with calibrated plates, squat racks, and a full machine and free weight selection. Everything is cleaned and maintained daily. See the full equipment list.

What makes Watson equipment different from what I'd find at a standard gym?

Watson is hand-assembled in the UK to commercial-grade tolerances, the same machines elite powerlifters and bodybuilders train on worldwide. The pivots, handles, and angles are engineered to match how the body moves under load, which is why the lifts feel different on the first rep. Chain-gym machines are built to a budget and lose their smoothness within a few years. A Watson stays tight and true for three decades. Full equipment list here.

Can I train for powerlifting or bodybuilding here?

Yes, both. The gym is equipped for serious powerlifting (calibrated plates, dedicated deadlift platform, Texas Power Bars, eleven racks) and serious bodybuilding (a full Watson strength machine lineup with angle adjustments, metallic dumbbells to 150 lbs, a 16-cable station with 180-degree pulley range). Rob, the owner, has coached both disciplines for thirty years. If you want programming on top of the equipment, that's what the coaching team is for.

Is it safe to come in at 3 AM?

Yes. The front door only opens through the gym app, so every entry is logged and only active members can get in. The space is well-lit inside and out, the parking lot is directly at the door, and the interior has camera coverage. Capped membership also means the roster is small and familiar, and off-hours regulars tend to recognize each other. If anything ever feels off, the contact number rings straight to the owner.

Coaching

Is there a coach in the gym if I need form help?

Yes. Someone from the coaching team is in the gym during staffed hours, 9 AM to 7 PM weekdays and 9 AM to 5 PM weekends. If you have a question about a lift, an adjustment, or how to set up a machine, you can pull them over. Outside staffed hours the gym stays open 24/7 through the app, so you always have the option to come back during staffed hours if you want hands-on help.

Is there personal training available?

Yes. 1-on-1 personal training is available with our coaching team, including NASM certified trainer Martin. First-timers and lifters stuck at a plateau both come to it, and either way the plan gets built around your schedule and where you are starting from. See personal training to book a free consult.

F13

Do members get access to both Resistance Strength and F13?

Resistance Strength and F13 Performance Center are two gyms next door to each other at 4630 Broadway in Allentown, covered by one membership. Resistance Strength is the 24/7 strength gym. F13 is the coached performance center. Every membership includes 24/7 access to both; F13 coached classes are the add-on tier. Not sure which plan fits? Reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

What is F13?

F13 is our performance center. It sits alongside Resistance Strength and runs as its own thing: Olympic platforms, 20 squat racks, turf, bumper plates, and HYROX conditioning equipment. The structure is what separates it. Every class is coached and the programming is planned ahead. People come over because they are done winging it. F13 gives you a plan built in 12-week blocks. Full F13 questions live on the F13 FAQ.
